Our photography challenges with Heart came about after many of the students doing my photography workshops would mention wanting challenges, or something to do after the courses to stay motivated. But I’d been reflecting on the saturation of images in our world and thought that just creating more images wasn’t the way I wanted to do it. So I talked to a few community organisations about the idea of them pitching the challenge, and the images created would then help raise awareness (and donations) that month. They loved it and we ran with it. Below is the organisations we partnered with for this project, or click via the drop down menu at the top of the page to check out what local photographers came up with that month. Our greatest success was in raising over $1000 during the month of September for the Food is Free laneway in Ballarat. But regardless of money, I think you’ll agree, all the organisations inspired some incredible photos to be created over each month!

This project was all about using creativity to make a difference on a local level, with the impact having the ability to reach globally via the website and social media.
