Our Photography Challenges with Heart, came from our love of using creativity to make a difference in the world. So often we watch the news & feel a sense of heartbreak at things that are happening & feel at a loss to know what to do. We wanted to create something that allowed anyone who usually turns their camera to the world around them, to take it one step further & create images that can make a difference.

These challenges are not about making money for us. They are about providing an opportunity for every day creative folk to reach out & support grass roots community organisations that are doing the hard yards every day to make a difference – however big or small.

We are super proud to have created this platform & hope, if you are reading this, you get inspired to pick up your camera & get involved.

We’re so excited to have BIFB supporting the first 6 months of our Photography Challenges with Heart. They have generously donated one mystery print by an incredible photographer each month for the “People’s choice” award.

BIFB is held biannually, with the next Biennale in August / September 2017. It’s an incredible photography festival that makes Ballarat a hub for all things photography during the month. If you love photography, there is no better place to be.

With new festival director in Fiona Sweet announced in 2016, there is a buzz happening as the next Biennale is set to build on the past 10 years, along with bringing some exciting new ideas to the festival.

Ballarat’s largest & best camera store is also supporting the first 5 months of our Photography Challenges with Heart. They have donated a $100 print voucher, which is perfect for getting photos off the computer & on to the wall where they can be enjoyed!

Thornton Richards is the oldest Camera House store in Australia, originally opening on Sturt St in Ballarat in 1872. Over the years they’ve continued to evolve & serve the needs of photography lovers across Ballarat & the Western Region, so we are super excited to have them join us.

Currently our major prize sponsor, MDP Photography & Video has donated a one hour private, one on one photography lesson to the winner of our Photography Challenges with Heart.

Owner Michelle Dunn is also behind With Camera In Hand and after founding MDP in 2007, she’s really excited to be sharing knowledge & creating a platform for creative collaboration via With Camera In Hand.

Michelle’s experience working in the industry across both commercial & editorial photography & video will mean any winner will be able to pick her brain for skills & tips to suit them. She’s really excited to be able to help the winner of the month take their photography further.
